Saint Mary's Catholic Voluntary Academy

Chaplaincy Team

Our Chaplaincy Team meet every Monday lunchtime.

Our role is to -

  • To help the school to be a community of faith.
  • To encourage the pupils to live their faith in daily living.
  • To develop good relationships within and beyond the school community.
  • To support Liturgy, prayer and the spiritual life of the school.
  • To involve pupils in fundraising for charities.
  • To continue to develop strong links with the Parish.
  • To support the school in its Mission Statement.

We have a Chaplaincy Team Board outside the hall which gives information about our activities. We enjoy working with the Lead Lay Chaplain of the St Ralph Sherwin CMAT, Mr Joe Hopkins.

Here is a prayer that we wrote together and say at the start of our meetings -

Loving God,

Help us to bring the children of Saint Mary's closer to you and one another.

Guide our Chaplaincy Team as we work to nurture the Catholic Life of our school.

In your name O Lord,

Amen.

Chaplaincy Team announce ‘Brighten Up the Harvest’

The Chaplaincy Team have invited the children to come dressed in bright clothes on Friday 4th October to raise money for CAFOD. They are asking each child to donate £1 for the privilege which they hope will help them reach their target for the ‘Brighten Up the Harvest’ appeal.

Using the CAFOD fundraising resources, the team wrote their own short presentations, to announce the plans to each year group. The Chaplaincy team explained that they are aiming to raise £150 which could be used to provide a family with one cow which provides milk to drink and sell.
